An ecclectic mix of funhouse trickery, virtual reality arcade and science center spectacle
, its unforgettable architecture – the outside is constructed to resemble an overturned building – houses some interesting games and exhibits. It’s also a great place to take a picture of the kids.
As the story goes, the WonderWorks Lab was a post-World War II haven for top-secret experiments. A tornado-creation experiment gone awry turned the house upside down and moved from its Caribbean-island home it to Orlando’s I-Drive. WonderWorks
houses five "labs" of interactive activities, that can best be described as unique. Simulated earthquakes and hurricanes, an arm wrestling machine that pits your muscle against a computer and an "
mock" electric chair that gives occupants a minor jolt make for intriguing mix of fantasy and reality.
The two-story attraction also offers a full-service Pizzeria that serves Blown Away Burgers,
Inverted Frankfurters and Upsidedown Ice Cream Sundaes; a 1,700-square-foot banquet room that is available for group and corporate functions; and, of course, the obligatory gift shop.
